Kynren Night Show, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, UK

JDA were appointed to work with French experts Puy Du Fou and the client Eleven Arches to create and deliver a, unique to the UK, visually stunning night show called Kynren.

The scheme accommodates an audience of up to 8000 people with 600 performers on a 7.5 acre outdoor stage.

Using the grade 1 listed Bishop Auckland Castle as the backdrop to a show and telling the epic tale of 2000 years of English history.

The project was technically complex with the designs carefully merging the needs of a large scale visitor attraction, whilst at the same time respecting it’s sensitive location adjacent Bishop Auckland Castle.

It included converting and refurbishing existing buildings on the site, whilst developing the site wide masterplan for the creation of the ‘set’.

The 90 minute show masterfully depicts two thousand years of history, myth and legend. Rebellions, wars, magic, majesty, celebration and heartache are vividly brought to ground-shaking life in a dazzling outdoor-theatre spectacular, which JDA are proud to have played a part in bringing to the north of England.
